Predicting your child’s adult height

Predicting your child’s adult height. Have you ever wondered how tall your child will be . This can have many ramifications regarding choosing what sports they will participate in. As well as what position to focus on while playing a specific sport. There are many other reasons such as if one’s child has suffered an injury resulting in loss of bone height or if they were born with a congenital deformity ( such as fibular hemimelia or a dysplasia) and there will be a limb that is shorter than the other. The big question that parents can struggle with is whether to lengthen the bone or shorten the good side (the shortening procedure is a quicker recovery, and if one is predicted to be six foot three, then they may give up and inch or two not to have to go through a lengthening.) Many parents dealing with this decision need to depend on an accurate method of predicting final height.

Having trained under one of the worlds premier limb lengthening doctors and deformity correction doctors I have had the privilege of being exposed to various systems of predicting final height of one’s child.  The multiplier method that was invented by Dr Dror Paley and Dr John Herzenberg has stood the test of time for accuracy. I use it in my practice and it can give final growth height prediction to a centimeter or two.  This is a valuable piece of information for parents.
